Dallas Anniversary Weekend

While we do live in North Dallas, we work in the suburbs and don't always get out and about into the heart of the concrete jungle very often. For our most recent wedding anniversary, Coach planned an awesome weekend for us to be tourists in our own city.

STAY IN A LOFT

Living in a loft apartment is one of those dream situations we'd absolutely to be in, but those just don't really exist where we need to live. So, we make sure to have loft anniversaries at NYLO Hotels as much as possible.

BRUNCH ACROSS THE STREET

Right across from the NYLO is a little spot called The Cedars Social. We don't brunch quite often, so walked in a little early and were the first customers of the day. You know those awkward party-goers that arrive as the decorations are still being put up! That was us!

If you check out the brunch menu for just a second, you'll realize why Coach and I were in absolute heaven. We love all the breakfast foods! The kick off our meal we got "The Best" Deviled Eggs and Brunch Mimosas. For our main course (literally so much food) we ordered the Classic Brioche French Toast and the House Made Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit. Just writing it all out makes me jealous that I don't have this on my dining room table right now. Everything was beyond fantastic!

GET YOUR NAILS DONE

I'm not a big manicure lady, but I sure do love getting my toes done! Knowing that little tidbit, Coach planned a quick trip to MiniLuxe to do just that. I love the fresh atmosphere and the friendly staff. Although I'd never been before, there are three Dallas locations. We went to the Uptown location.

LUNCH AT THE PARK

Nearby our pedicure spot, is one of my favorite Dallas hang outs  - Klyde Warren Park. After playing the yard games, people-watching and sidewalk strolling, you have to stop at some of the food trucks. Our go-to favorite is The Butcher's Son, where Coach always orders The Butcher's 3-Way, any combination of three sliders. We get to branch out and try new sliders each time, but it always has to include The Mac-N-Beefy because....mac-n-cheese on a slider, that's why! We also have to pair whatever we get with their Lime Tots. You haven't truly had tater-tots until you've had these with a lime punch to them.

ADMIRE THE ART

On our way back to the car from the park, we made a quick stroll through the Dallas Museum of Art. There's always something for every creative to admire, like these beautiful photographs were for me.

LOOK OUT BELOW

One night (a very cold night, might I add), we ventured out to see one of Dallas' most iconic pieces of skyline, Reunion Tower, up close and personal. The observation deck is a beautiful room with lots of geometric shapes and interactive screens. Again, it was a little too chilly to stand outside very long, but we did spot our parked car and hotel with the binoculars!

GET SOME PIE

You have not had pie, until you've been to Bishop Arts for a couple pieces of Emporium Pies. While it took him FOREVER to make a decision (because they all sound so amazing), we both ended up absolutely loving our picks - me, Smooth Operator and him, The Drunken Nut.

We had such a great anniversary weekend, even just being half and hour from our own home. Staycations still feel like true vacations when you pack the time with fun activities and local eats. We love you Dallas. Proud to call you both "home" and "getaway."
