Happy New Year from Dallas

By Wednesday afternoon, we didn't have any New Year's Eve plans. While I was out picking up a few groceries, Coach texted and asked if I'd like to go celebrate 2015 by going to Victory Park's Big D New Year's Eve. We went a few years ago and had a great time, so it was settled!

We bundled up before leaving...and I mean BUNDLED! Two pair of pants, boots, a shirt, a sweater, pea coat, scarf and gloves. (And no, it didn't help all that much. It was so cold!) Our friends joined us on the Green Line, as parking in downtown Dallas during a city-wide party is not all that easy to do. It's nice to just ride and not have to worry with traffic or parking!

After we arrived at Victory Park it was time to get some dinner! We headed straight for the food trucks and saw one of our favorites, The Butcher's Son. Coach picked out some sliders for us to share and I just had to try the Lime Tots. I'm so glad I did. They are awesome! Who knew that'd be such a great combination? Glad somebody did!

After aimlessly walking for about an hour (to keep warm), we finally decided to take our place in front of one of the stages. From then on, we counted down the 3 hours until the big moment. There were lots of great live performances, but unfortunately, none were cover bands. I bet we would have been able to keep warm if we were singing and dancing to songs we knew. 

After what seemed like a lot longer than 3 hours (did I mention it was really, really cold?) the real countdown to the kiss was finally happening! 10 - 9 - 8 - 7 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1!

We may not have a ball that drops from the sky, but a Dallas New Year's is certainly no small thing! The fireworks at midnight were absolutely amazing and DJ Roe Parrish was mixing the perfect songs for the countdown and beyond (kind of wish he'd had the whole last hour with us)! He was fantastic!
